Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet!
If we haven’t met in person, let me take you behind the scenes of Sweet C!
Most people know me by my bubbly personality, faith, enthusiasm for baking, love of coffee, and curly hair. I am a person of many interests and passions; most notably my love for baking, which I have turned into a livelihood. If you spend time exploring this site, you will see some of my baking creations as well as paintings and poetry. My other interests include time in nature, time with friends, swimming, biking, running, (yes, I’ve done triathlons too ; ), reading, spreadsheets, learning new things, and deepening my relationship with God.
I have a passion for making others feel seen and loved, and sharing my recovery journey from bulimia. I have spent the past several years getting to know and learning how to love myself better and embrace my quirks.
I find joy watching fireflies dance at dusk and hearing my niece’s laugh. I value authentic connections with people and prefer deep conversation over small talk. I’ve previously been called a social butterfly, but I’m actually an introvert. Before learning to love and accept myself, I sought acceptance from others as the source of my value, which often left me feeling empty. It’s hard to feel like you fit in, when you don’t know who you are. I spent a lot of time chasing happiness in the world and others, but the deeper I settle into my identity in Christ, into my value as His daughter and the way He wired me, the less I seek fulfillment in the world. I love spending time with people, but no longer out of a craving for acceptance. I believe community and time spent with loved ones enhances life like nutmeg in an apple pie, it isn’t the most important ingredient, but it makes life / the pie that much richer.
Now that you know a little about me personally, here’s a little background on the baking side of Sweet C.
I fell in love with baking when I was 7 years old. I asked to help my Dad make chocolate chip cookies one Sunday afternoon and from then on, I was hooked. I enjoyed every part of the process, especially “cleaning” the bowl from any remaining cookie dough at the end—Dad always made sure a little extra was left to enjoy. What started as father-daughter time, quickly fostered a passion for learning all things baking—how to follow a recipe, properly measure ingredients, crack an egg, and scale up a recipe—all while spending time together. As I grew up, I took over more and more of the cookie making and Dad would help put the baking stones in the oven and wash the dishes. Eventually, I was able to take over the whole process, but Dad would still do the dishes as a thank you for making him, I mean our family, cookies. Between school and sports, I spent as much of my free time as possible baking. In college, I would lug baking supplies across campus to the dorm with an oven, so I could bake. In recent years, I have flown with baking tools and supplies, to bake in other states, and have baked in three continents.
Born out of my love for baking and finding joy in sharing what I make with others, I have been pouring my heart into Sweet C for almost a decade. I started my business in August 2013 under the name Sweetly Entwined. The initial growth was slow as I finished college, moved to Atlanta, spent time in Ecuador and Pennsylvania, and then moved back to Maryland in 2017. Since then, my business has been steadily growing and in 2019 was rebranded to Sweet C Baking. In April 2021, I went part time with my day job to invest more time into Sweet C and in May 2022, I left that job to solely pursue all things Sweet C—baking, writing, painting, and other endeavors God has been putting on my heart.
Baking brings me such joy—I love creating something delicious and beautiful to sweeten a celebration or even an average day. As a livelihood it does bring some stress, ups and downs, as any job would, but more than anything, baking is accompanied by joy, peace, and gratitude for the skills I have learned in this gifting from God. I have been baking for over 20 years and will for many more decades to come.
I hope you enjoy your time exploring my site and that something you see will make your day a little sweeter.
Sweet Regards,
